About Vincent Lizotte
My journey into psychotherapy has been richly shaped by a blend of diverse experiences and deeply held personal values. Growing up in a vibrant French-Canadian family, I was immersed early in the importance of culture and community. Now, living in Norfolk County and embracing the great outdoors with my family, I've found that these aspects of my personal life greatly enhance my therapeutic approach, bringing balance, empathy, and connection to the forefront.
From a young age, engaging in deep conversations with friends about their lives ignited my fascination with the human mind and behavior. These moments of connection and understanding laid the groundwork for my career. There’s a profound satisfaction in witnessing the shift as individuals release their emotional burdens in therapy. Driven by a dedication to foster such transformative experiences, my practice is all about helping you find clarity and connection.
My interests outside of work, such as playing soccer, cycling, trail running, and permaculture, form the foundation of my lifestyle and personal growth. These activities, coupled with meditation and the adventure of home-schooling, embody principles of efficiency and natural system mimicry. Such principles not only enrich my life but also inform my therapeutic approach, underscoring the significance of a holistic view of well-being that integrates physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects.
Education and Expertise
Having faced my own challenges in my teenage years,, I found that standard talk therapy didn't fully address my needs. I eventually overcame long-standing depression while learning from job experiences in retail and manufacturing as a single parent. By connecting with the right supports, particularly Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), I gained clarity, married the love of my life, grew our family, and connected deeply with friends while running a social enterprise with the Canadian Mental Health Association before training in RRT. In 2020, I decided to focus on my Master's Degree, refining my capacity to help others overcome their own "stuckness"—efficiently, painlessly, and permanently.
My approach to therapy is grounded in Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), but is also informed by Adlerian, Schema Therapy, Narrative Theory, and mindfulness, providing a comprehensive and adaptable support system. Currently, I am enhancing my skills in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and families.
I hold a BA in Psychology from Western University, an MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and I am a certified clinical fellow by the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists (NBCCH). I maintain a high standard of care in my practice, in accordance with CRPO standards.
